MEMBERSHIP

We are very keen to welcome new members.  Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in Scalpay and its history.   Members are encouraged to be involved in decision making and have voting rights at the AGM and any other special meetings.  They receive a regular newsletter to keep them informed of future activities and events.

Our society is run on a voluntary basis. You don’t have to be good at history. There are lots of activities and different skills required to build our collections and help us grow. We need help to identify people in our growing photographic collection, record stories and interview people about life in Scalpay over the years. If you are good at social media and internet savvy you could help spread the word and make our collections available to a global audience.  

 

Funding our activities is challenging. We rely mainly on donations, sales of refreshments, knitwear and publications, and grants.  Ideas on how to be self-funding and maintain a healthy bank balance are urgently required.   If you have ideas on how to build our funds, and make a Scalpay heritage centre a reality, please join us.
